Secretary's Notes: July 13th Meeting, 7:00 PM, Greenville Confederate Museum

-Add to website:  Tyler's gray jacket with blue trim is lost. it was last seen at Fairview this year in the big tee-pee tent.
 -Another lost item is one of the Barnes' dress - green gingham with cream attached apron.

-The Butler Guard website has a new URL:  www.butlerguards.com

-Treasurer's Report: $1,063.72

-It has been decided to send a card to Jo and Marty Evans from the Butler Guards in reaction to Jo's mother's recent decline in health.  Julia Barnes will handle this for the group.

-The SCV members of the Fairview SCV camp want the Butler Guards to help with the insurance cost for the event this year.  The event this year barely made $35, none of which the Butler Guards recieved.  Should we help pay after we did a lot of the work for the event and the fact we got it to be battalion-affiliated, which caused the cost of insurance to decrease, since that added the battalion's insurance?  The cost of the insurance was around $500. Tom Fowler cannot attend and asked for someone to volunteer to represent the Butlers at the meeting.   Mike Barnes and Chase Heatherly are planning on attending the SCV's meeting on July 17th to discuss this with the SCV camp.  They will report back to the membership in August.

-We have decided to give this year's donation to the Greenville Confederate Museum where we meet.  Tom Fowler is going to ask our treasurer how much we have given in the past and we will most likely give that same amount this year.

-Our unit's trip to Atlanta and other parts of GA:  Are possible dates the weekends of August 5th or August 12th?  It is important to do this before the temperature becomes too cold.  So August or September are ideal.

-Upcoming Events This Year:
    *Tunnel Hill (Dalton, GA):  September 9-10.  We will go gray to this event.
    *Perryville, Kentucky: The weekend of October 6th-8th
    *Blue Springs (Mosheim, TN): October 13th-15th.  We will go blue to this event.
    *Atlanta, Georgia: November 3rd-5th
    *Battle of Secessionville (Charleston, SC): November 10th-12th

-Nominating Commitee:  This committee will choose a slate of nominees for our military and political positions.  They will also check with those selected to make sure they are willing to take the position they are to be nominated for.  Then at our August meeting these nominees will be presented by the commitee.  Then it is open for other nominations from the floor.  We will then have elections by secret ballot.  The Nominating Committee consists of our president, Bob Kamerrianian, our captain, Tom Fowler, and our first sergeant, John Vaughn.

-Women's Auxilary:  Should it be restarted?  Mary Lin Ashley will contact the ladies of the unit to see if they are interested by the August meeting.
